The National Assembly will call for a special session next week to pass the overhaul of the Bill for Disarmament and Ammo Control, informed its head Cilia Flores. The legislation that was passed in its first reading on January 28 includes 52 new articles. |

Chávez’ regime waited for Franklin Brito’s body to be buried to issue a communiqué read in State VTV denying any violation of Brito’s civic, social or economic rights or any responsibility in his death. The communiqué concludes regretting not having been able to “respond to a violation of rights that didn’t exist.”

during the first half of this year, up 25.5% from the same period in 2009. Also 449 were injured, up 30.9% from the first half last year. All this according to figures from the Venezuelan Prison Observatory (OVP) made public on Wednesday. |

In the negotiation table held at the Labor Ministry yesterday, Mercal Human Management and Finance managers insisted the company has no resources to honor the workers’ collective bargaining agreement. This Wednesday, Venezuelan Energy and Oil Minister and head of PDVSA Rafael Ramírez inaugurated a gas cylinder recycling center in Maracaibo, Zulia state. He said that thanks to the activation of a double shift, the Maracaibo LP gas filling plant went from producing 4,000 cylinders to 8,000 cylinders a day. |
